Hey there!

So, there are about a gazillion sites on how to change your life in 6 weeks, 90 days, or a month. Wait, maybe it’s 21 days to make a habit, or is it 66 days?

I am a bit slow, so how about 80 Weeks? Why rush?

I want a new life.

Well, not 100% new. I love my family, my home, my dog. My day job doesn’t suck. But I would like to be healthier physically, mentally, and financially.

To sum up: I want to be a debt-free, minimalist, size 8, writer.

Four things. Several are related. And I have somehow gotten fixated on 80weeks. Mostly because I could lose 80 pounds and one pound a week seems reasonable. So I have tried to start an 80 Weeks to a new me thing, writing in my planner, etc. And guess what? This is version 8 Haven’t gotten past week nine yet. So why not a semi-anonymous blog to track my progress? No one will read it, really, but something about seeing the blog posts pile up sparks the motivation.

I have goals, but I really want to focus on making new habits and new systems. Habits that will help me become that debt-free, minimalist, hiking, writer.

#80Weeks from Monday, January 23, 2023 (day 1) will be Monday, August 5, 2024.

Here are the habits:

  1. In bed 8 hours (Sleep at least 7), and/or sleep score >80
  2. Movement: 8K steps, 8 minutes of yoga, run 8 minutes, OR 8 minutes on the spin bikeĀ
  3. No wine or alcohol
  4. No personal shopping*
  5. Write on my main project for 8 minutes a day.
  6. Read for at least 8 minutes a day.
  7. Maximum eating window of 8 hours.
  8. Declutter one thing each day; either recycle, donate or, last resort, dispose of. (8 per week, 1 a day and 2 on Sunday)

So let’s do this!

*personal shopping is purchasing things that I am the only user/beneficiary of. Like clothes, take out alone, toiletries that are not used up, etc. And office supplies. No more office supplies.

About Me

So, I have goals!

To be a debt-free, minimalist, hiking writer.

Here is where I will set up my systems (habits are better than goals, according to James Clear) and then track my progress. Because isn’t that what the internet is for?

Full disclosure, I am an Amazon Affiliate, so I may make a small percentage, at no cost to you, if you purchase something from my links.
